2 years later, family of fatal crash victim awaits driver’s sentencing

Posted: Updated:

As two years have passed since a 50-year-old Bridgeport woman was killed in a car crash, her family is still awaiting the driver's sentencing.

Shylane Crooks was fatally struck by a BMW driven by a Trumbull resident, who was later arrested on multiple charges.

Police say 41-year-old Palomino Pass pleaded guilty Thursday to charges stemming from the 2018 incident.

Sentencing in the case will take place in three weeks, almost coinciding with the two-year anniversary of Crooks tragic death.

Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez says whatever sentence is handed down in the case has the potential to help bring the victim's family closure, but nobody is a winner in the end.

Pass was driving the wrong way at a high rate of speed and had numerous drugs in her system including Oxycodone when she struck and killed Crooks.
