Sag Harbor School District investigates cyber-attacks on computer system

Posted: Updated:

Investigators say they're trying to determine the extent of a cyber-attack on the Sag Harbor School District computer system.

Officials say they're working to see if any personal data was compromised by hackers during the attack earlier this week.

School district computer systems contain students' personal data, including Social Security numbers.

Cyber security expert Matthew Pascucci says schools have to be proactive to avoid becoming victims.

Experts say schools also need to have security in place to safeguard student information.
