A generous donation was made Tuesday to help wounded veterans.
The Independence Fund received $20,000. The fund aids veterans from across the country.
Local veterans support groups and the Holiday Inn Express at Stony Brook University made the donation.
They say the money will go toward the purchase of an all-terrain wheelchair.
"It operates like a tank. It's an awesome machine. And it supports our veteran who has been disabled through the war…The right thing to do is to support our veterans and I do that from my heart,"  says John Tsunis, Holiday Inn Express owner.
