Samsung shutting down CPU research division at its TX research and development center

The Chinese box office is now expected to surpass the U.S. next year, becoming the world's largest cinema market for the first time ever. PWC predicts that box office receipts in China will jump from $10 billion to $15.5 billion by 2023.  It's welcome news for studios. The majority of movies released there come from Hollywood.

Samsung is shutting down a CPU research division at its research and development center in Austin, Texas. That facility makes the Exynos mobile processing chip which powers Samsung Galaxy phonesm but has failed to gain traction elsewhere. The move will affect around 300 jobs, but Samsung says it is not exiting the business entirely

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenberg says he will not take a bonus this year or until the 737 Max flies again, according to Boeing Chairman David Calhoun, speaking to CNBC Tuesday morning.
