Lynbrook customers will see an increase of about 6.5 percent, almost 6 percent for those in Merrick, and more than 4 percent in Sea Cliff.
In a statement to News 12, water officials say that the increases are "to cover the operating costs associated with delivering water to our customers.”The statement continues: “In addition, taxes make up a significant portion of our customers' bills, between 33% and 59% depending on service area, and New York American Water continues to pursue solutions to address this tax inequity and the resulting financial burden on our customers."
New York American Water officials say the increase will begin next month.
