New York residents were able to vote early Saturday as the state joins 38 other states to offer early voting.

Lawmakers voted to give residents the chance to cast their votes early as it can be difficult to make it to the polls on Election Day as many have to balance work, childcare and busy schedules.

All registered voters are encouraged by lawmakers to head to the polls when they have a chance. Voting numbers in New York have been low in the past, according to officials, which made the push for early voting stronger.

Officials say with the presidential election in 2020, early voting this year gives them the chance to figure out the system.

Early voting polling locations will be open until Nov. 3.

There are 10 early polling locations in Suffolk and 15 in Nassau.

Election Day is Nov 5.
