A NYPD officer is lucky to be alive after an early morning shooting in Harlem.

Citizen app video shows the large police response on Frederick Douglass Boulevard.

That's where the NYPD says an officer responding to a 911 call encountered a naked man armed with a semiautomatic handgun.

Police say the officer struggled with the suspect and screamed for help.

The officer was shot once in the chest, but was saved by his bulletproof vest.

The officer, who also suffered some facial injuries, is in stable condition at St. Luke's Hospital.

The suspect was shot and killed by police.
