Exclusive video obtained by News 12 shows three men who appear to be carrying a machete in the streets of Riverdale, and a man says the police didn't do anything about it.
The video appears to show three men walking along Huxley Avenue when one seemed to forcefully lean into a car window with what one man thought was a punch. The man then drove up the block and called 911 and reported the incident. He also turned on his camera to catch anything that might happen next.
That's when he says he saw one person holding a "very large knife." He called back a dispatcher to tell them the men were armed.
Police arrived to the scene moments later. The man says he saw them question the people involved, and eventually they were allowed to walk away without any action taken.
After contacting police and News 12, the captain of the 50th Precinct reached out to the witness. The man says the captain seemed "pretty horrified and apologetic."
Police said in a statement, "A complaint report has been generated and the 50th Precinct Detective Squad is investigating this incident. The matter is under internal review."
