Denzel Washington becomes 'living legend' in New Brunswick

An Oscar-winning actor was honored in New Brunswick over the weekend.
Denzel Washington received the Ossie Davis Ruby Dee Living Legends Award Saturday for his film and stage career.
"I'm still surprised every day by my own life and I actually live it," Washington said in his acceptance speech. "It's amazing to me."
The event, which was organized by the Crossroads Theatre Company of New Brunswick, featured special performances and tributes by Washington's friends and collaborators, including Phylicia Rashad and Courtney B. Vance.
The Crossroads Theatre Company produces plays and musicals exploring African American culture. The award presented to Washington is named after late acting icons Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee, who performed at Crossroads.
The event was also a fundraiser for Crossroads Theatre Company.
