Suffolk police say a man was killed when his pickup truck veered off of a Mount Sinai road and struck a tree Sunday morning.

It happened shortly after 9 a.m. on County Road 83, south of Mount Sinai-Coram Road.

Police say 55-year-old Ralph Maiello, of Coram, was heading south in a 2019 Chevy pickup truck when the vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree.

Maiello was pronounced dead at Mather Memorial Hospital, police say.

The pickup truck was impounded for a safety check.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
