A family is still searching for answers more than a year after a Brooklyn teen went missing.
Family members of Jaylene Jimenez say they discovered she had gone missing on June 3. They say she was planning on meeting an 18-year-old man in Hoboken, New Jersey.
"If she's dead, we want to get the closure. If she's alive, we want to see her again. If she needs help for any reason, we're here for her, we're going to help her," said Jaylene's grandmother Nydia Ruiz.
The family say they believe Jaylene and the 18-year-old man met on the internet. They say after speaking with him that day, he told them he would be returning Jaylene to Brooklyn.
"The guy's sister was going to bring her home, she stopped her car at a light, and Jaylene jumped out the car and started running," said Ruiz.
The family says that was the last time Jaylene was reportedly seen. Ruiz tells News 12 police questioned the man but no arrests were made and the teen was not found.
Jaylene's grandmother said she had run away once before but that time she only stayed away for a week. They don't believe she would stay away for this long.
The NYPD says their investigation is still open and they're trying to find her.
