A Lake Ronkonkoma business was back open Monday just days after a deer came crashing through its front glass window.
Jenisse Heredia is still in shock from the stunning incident that occurred in her salon around noon Saturday. The incredible surveillance video shows the moment it happened while Heredia was cutting a client's hair.
"When I looked, it was a deer coming in my direction. All I could think of was getting out of its way," says Heredia.
As the deer crashed through, Heredia says one of her clients who was seated on a couch was injured when it stepped on her leg.
Heredia says it was the most frightening 30 seconds of her life. After the deer exited, she called 911.
The salon is back open, but Heredia still wants to know why the deer came crashing through. Strong Island Animal Rescue's Frankie Floridia had a few ideas.
"We're overbuilding, these deer have no where to go. They're scared, they don't know where to go, they're being pushed out of their natural habitat," says Floridia. "We've been getting phone calls three to four times a week that are similar."
