Thousands of people gathered at Jones Beach State Park on Sunday to walk for a great cause.
It marks the 19th annual Lustgarten Foundation Walk to raise money and awareness in the fight against pancreatic cancer. The event is presented by Northwell Health, and it's Lustgarten's largest walk nationwide.
Pancreatic cancer has a five-year survival rate. News 12 spoke with survivors at the walk, who shared what being there means for them.
The Lustgarten walk has raised $16.6 million since its inception years ago, and all of the money goes to research toward finding a cure for pancreatic cancer.
