Police: Man in ride-share car hurt in Southern State Parkway shooting

State police say a 22-year-old man in a ride-share car was injured when shots were fired from another vehicle on the Southern State Parkway early Saturday morning.

State police say a passenger in a ride-share car was injured when shots were fired from another vehicle on the Southern State Parkway early Saturday morning.
It happened around 5:45 a.m. near Exit 17 in the town of Hempstead, police say.
The shots were fired by a person in a dark-colored SUV, according to state police. The suspect fired several rounds into the vehicle, striking a 22-year-old man, who was the only passenger in the ride-share vehicle.
The victim, whose identity wasn't released, was taken to Nassau University Medical Center with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
