There's a warning for parents on Nassau's North Shore where police say an elderly woman tried to lure a teen into a car.

According to police, it happened around 6:45 p.m. Thursday in Great Neck as the 14-year-old was walking home from school on Baker Hill Road near Chadwick Road.

That's where police say the teen was approached by a newer model, white four-door vehicle.

Police say the woman was a passenger in the car.

Investigators say she opened the door while the vehicle was in motion and tried to get the teen to get into the car multiple times.

When the teen pulled out her phone, the vehicle took off. The girl then ran home to tell her father, who contacted police.

Anyone with information is urged to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
