Police stop speeding SUV, find woman gave birth in backseat

A couple speeding to the hospital after a mother gave birth in the vehicle was aided by Nassau police earlier Sunday morning.

A couple speeding to the hospital after a mother gave birth in the vehicle was aided by Nassau police earlier Sunday morning.
According to police, a Highway Patrol supervisor saw a speeding 2019 Nissan Pathfinder on the Long Island Expressway.
The supervisor stopped the vehicle and soon learned that the couple was driving to the hospital after the woman gave birth in the backseat.
According to a news release, the supervisor requested a Nassau County ambulance and additional units to respond.
The ambulance transported both mother and child to the hospital, which was escorted by patrol units.
