An on-duty New York State trooper was airlifted to the hospital Sunday afternoon after crashing his motorcycle.

Officials say the trooper was trying to avoid another vehicle on County Road 52 when he lost control of the bike.

He suffered minor injuries.

The trooper, who was not publicly named, was coming from the Dee Snider Ride charity event in Lido Beach when the crash occurred.
