NICE bus crashes into Hempstead deli after SUV collision

A NICE bus crashed into the side of a deli in Hempstead Saturday morning after a collision involving an SUV.
Police say it happened around 10:20 a.m. near 115 Main St.
NICE says that the n15 NICE bus was struck by a passenger car that had ran a red light. The collision pushed the bus onto the sidewalk and into a deli.
NICE says minor injuries were reported.
One witness described a chaotic scene.
"When I came here, there were people everywhere. They were putting people in stretchers, they put my ex-wife on the ground," says Edwin Perez. "I started helping people, make sure they were OK. Some of them had hurt ribs, hurt their legs, their heads were banged up. I wanted to make sure none of them needed CPR or anything like that."
Police say there were no life-threatening injuries. They say the Nassau Traffic Safety Board is investigating the crash.
It was not yet clear if the driver of the car that hit the bus would face any charges.
Jim Pan, the owner of the deli, says no customers or employees were hurt, despite several people being inside eating at tables when the incident occurred. He hopes to reopen his shop soon.
