The mother of a Parkland, Florida, massacre victim was among a number of gun safety advocates rallying Thursday outside an NRA fundraiser at The Inn at New Hyde Park.
Linda Beigel Schulman, of Dix Hills, recounted the last seconds of her son Scott Beigel's life in pictures she says have never been seen before. Schulman joined other members of anti-violence groups and lawmakers to have their voices heard.

Protesters say they don't agree with The Inn at New Hyde Park's decision to host the Nassau County Friends of NRA dinner. They were especially opposed to the fact that guns would be raffled off at the fundraiser.

"Anyone who gives a voice to the NRA should be met with protest," said Ellie Musmeci, of the Long Islanders for Gun Safety.

Musmeci said the event would raise money for the NRA gun lobby and lead to more gun violence.

"With all the mass shootings and all the issues going on in our country, that just seems like a slap in the face," said Musmeci.

Laurence Dittmer, one of the founders of Nassau County Friends of the NRA, said the money raised at the dinner will be used for the NRA Foundation, which only gives money to charities.
