Police: Hempstead babysitter left 2 toddlers home alone

Posted: Updated:

A Hempstead babysitter is accused of endangering two toddlers she was supposed to be watching.

Police say 45-year-old Rosa Ayala left the 1 and 2-year-old boys alone at her home on Fulton Street in Hempstead Monday morning.

According to police, when she returned she says one baby had bite marks, bruises and swelling to his face.

Detectives say Ayala failed to notify the baby's family.

Later, when the mother came to pick up the boys, she called police.

Police haven't said who they think hurt the baby.

Ayala is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
