While police were interviewing the man's father, they say the suspect entered the room holding several knives and a samurai sword.

Officers ordered him to drop the weapons, but police say he refused.

“The officers instructed him to drop the knives. He said it several times. He then lunged at the officers. The officers fired shots,” says Commissioner Patrick Ryder.

The officers performed CPR until medical personnel arrived.

Police say the suspect was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not released his name.
