State police say a Bridgeport man has been arrested after they uncovered assault rifles, drugs and wads of cash at his apartment.
Authorities say Gregory Thompson is a convicted felon, and is not supposed to have access to guns. But they say they found weapons and ammunition that are illegal for anyone to have in Connecticut.
Officials say they found two AK-47-type assault rifles with 30-round magazines, a pistol with high-capacity magazines, including a 50-round drum, oxycodone hydrochloride pills, drug paraphernalia and more than $3,800 in cash.
A state police task force raided Thompson's home on Cowles Street earlier this month after receiving a tip. Thompson was arrested Monday.
Police charged him with intent to sell and an additional charge since Jettie S. Tisdale School is around the block from the home. Thompson also faces charges of risk of injury to a minor. Police say his 16-year-old son and 7-month-old grandchild lived with him.
Thompson's bond was set at $500,000. Police say the guns they seized will be examined to see if they match up with any open shooting cases.
