Football player airlifted after scary collision in Long Beach

Two junior varsity football players were injured Saturday after colliding during a game at Long Beach High School, authorities say.
Police say a 14-year-old was flown by helicopter to the hospital with a neck injury. A 15-year-old went to the emergency room with an injured shoulder.
Long Beach Public Schools posted on Facebook that both players are expected to be OK.
Parents who spoke with News 12 about the incident called it scary.
“It is a concern. At the end of the day, I love football, but I'm a dad as well,” says Tony Maldonado. “Every time you see your son limp a little bit, you kind of cringe."
Police say a high school football player in Bethpage also had to be airlifted to the hospital this morning for a back injury. There was no word yet on his condition.
