The mother who is accused of kidnapping her daughter and sparking an Amber Alert faced a judge Saturday.
Newsday reports that Patchita Tennant plead not guilty after prosecutors say she shot her 3-year-old's father and then drove off with the little girl.
Inside the courtroom, the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office says it was a crime of passion after Tennant suspected her daughter's father was sleeping with another woman.
Tennant's attorney claims she acted in self defense during an argument.
Bail was set at $250,000.
