Police: Man steals $35,000 worth of landscaping equipment

Police have arrested a Woodhaven man they say is behind several burglaries throughout Nassau.

Nassau police say James Markellos, of Queens, broke into trailers and stole various pieces of landscaping equipment from at least eight landscapers.

They say the incidents happened throughout the month of August in Bethpage, Franklin Square, Roosevelt, Freeport and North Massapequa.

Police tell News 12 Markellos stole more than $35,000 worth of equipment.

Markellos is now facing nine counts of grand larceny.

Police aren't able to tell News 12 if the landscapers will get their equipment back.
