A burglar stole cash from church donation boxes at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre twice in August, according to police.
Police say the suspect was first seen on a security camera video prying a donation box open and taking cash on Aug. 20. They say the same burglar came back again on Aug. 27.
Sean Dolan, the spokesman for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, says the burglar broke two donation boxes causing hundreds of dollars in damages.
Dolan says if the suspect was in need of money, he could have reached out to the church for help instead of stealing from it.
Police described the burglar as a thin man, between 5 foot and 8 inches and 5 foot and 9 inches tall with medium brown hair.
The diocese says the main concern is for the safety and security of St. Agnes parishioners.
Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
