Police say they're searching for a man who tried to rob a Hempstead business at knifepoint Monday.

Detectives say the suspect walked into BK Sports Land on Main Street in Hempstead when he pulled out a large kitchen knife and demanded cash.

The owner came out from behind the counter and chased him away.

Police say during the chase, the suspect saw a pedestrian with cash in his hand and grabbed the $20.

No injuries were reported.
