A tornado packing estimated wind speeds of 85 mph touched down in Manorville Monday as severe storms swept across parts of Long Island, the National Weather Service confirms.

The EF0 tornado touched down on Dayton Street and headed northeast through neighboring Rosewood and South streets. It knocked down trees, ripped off branches and limbs, and felled utility poles, according to the National Weather Service. It also caused damage to homes in the area.

News 12 spoke with residents who described debris flying through the air, uprooted trees and even a missing trampoline.

A tornado warning had been issued for the area shortly before 5 p.m. Severe thunderstorm warnings were also issued for parts of the county Monday afternoon.

Viewer photos and videos sent in to News 12 Long Island also appeared to show an impressive waterspout over the waters south of Fire Island Monday afternoon. News 12 meteorologists say that was the same storm cell that prompted a tornado warning when it pushed north over Suffolk.
