Two people were hospitalized in a head-on crash in Shoreham overnight.
Suffolk police say it happened shortly before midnight on Route 25A near Randall Road. A total of three vehicles were involved.
Investigators say a vehicle traveling west drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with another vehicle. A third vehicle was also involved.
Video from the crash scene shows dozens of first responders, and it appears one of the cars had to be cut open to rescue an occupant.
Police say a 30-year-old man was seriously injured and a second person sustained minor injuries. They were both hospitalized. Their identities weren't released.
Neighbors say accidents are far too common in the area, and they're calling for something to be done.
"Over the last two years off 25A, there have been an enormous number of accidents that continue to happen. So I don't know if we need to implement more stop lights or -- they better figure something out," says Shoreham resident Richard Benigno.
Police have not said what might have caused the vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic, but they say it appears to be an accident and no criminality is suspected.
