President Donald Trump's tariffs on Chinese goods may begin to hit home this weekend.

Households could face higher prices as companies pass on the penalties to customers. Trump's trade war with China is about to heat up come Sunday at 12:01 a.m. That's when the U.S. government will begin collecting 15% tariffs on billions of Chinese imports.

The Chinese imports affected range from smartwatches, TVs, shoes, diapers and sporting goods to meat and dairy products.

Until now the Trump administration has left household items off the table and instead just targeted industrial goods. Higher tariffs on a separate group of Chinese products are set to take effect in October.

Meanwhile, negotiators from both sides are set to meet next month in Washington for a new round of talks.
