The Hampton Classic is gearing up for a busy wrap-up to the eight-day event.
The finale of the competition is Sunday, Sept. 1. Thousands of people are expected to attend this weekend, and carpooling is recommended.
Organizers say they are preparing for the busy weekend by opening up for parking for eventgoers.
Organizers say it took them about a month to prepare for the event, and once it's over, they say it takes about a week to finish cleaning up.
Event coordinators say up to 12,000 people will come to the event daily.
Southampton police tell News 12 that officers will be stationed in the area to make sure traffic moves smoothly.
They say there will be heavy traffic this weekend, and they’re advising drivers to leave early if they’re in the area or plan on heading to the event.
