Batto started as a groom, then became a stable manager, rider, and USEF certified instructor with her own business.
$10,000 Marders Local Hunter Derby
First place: Holly Orlando and Cathy Zicherman's True Story
Fun fact: True Story, who edged out Curo and Geoffrey Hesslink by just one point, had a different partner for practice. The horse "spent the last week preparing for the Hampton Classic by giving my four-year-old granddaughter, Elsie, rides around the farm," says Cathy Zicherman. "She thinks he is a unicorn, which he basically is!"

$30,000 Land Rover Jumper Challenge presented by Jaguar

First place: Adrienne Sternlicht and Fantast

Fun fact: Sternlicht was a team gold medalist at the 2018 World Equestrian Games. She says she knew her horse, Fantast, was "quite seasoned at speed classes."
"He has great foot speed, so it may not look like he's moving fast," she says. "Often times I can add a stride through the turns and still know that I'm getting across the jumps."
Second place: Molly Ashe-Cawley and Berdien
Fun fact: Berdien was competing with just two "studs" for traction in her shoes. That's like competing in grass-gripping soccer cleats.
"Berdien is just eight years old and she got a little green and star-struck at the beginning of the course," Cawley says. "She was really comfortable by the end."
Note: This pair came in just four one-thousandths of a second behind Sternlicht and Fantast.
Third place: Geoffrey Hesslink and HH Casey Jones
Fun fact: This duo finished in a time of 64.389 – just a fraction of a second after the Ashe-Cawley and Berdien.
