Officials are warning Nassau residents about an uptick in mail being stolen.
They say the thieves are striking at all hours of the day, placing a sticky substance on mailbox drawers to steal incoming mail.
Nassau residents are offered the following tips to avoid mail theft:
  • Ask your financial institution for secure checks that cannot be altered.
  • Do not to send cash in the mail.
  • Use the letter slots inside your post office or hand mail directly to your postal carrier.
