A powerful storm left some serious damage behind near the border of Nassau and Suffolk Thursday night.

News 12 crews went to the scenes of multiple uprooted trees, damaged fences and properties and downed power lines across the area.

In East Farmingdale, the facade of a building was torn off.

In North Babylon, a large tree fell and the roots were so big they shot about 10 feet into the air.

 

Nearly 68,000 customers lost electricity during the height of the storm, according to PSEG Long Island. They say 800 extra workers were dispatched to get customers back online.

By Friday evening, about 14,000 customers remained without power, according to PSEG.

News 12 reached out to both the Nassau and Suffolk police departments, who said there were no serious injuries from the storm.

The National Weather Service has confirmed the damage from the storms was from straight-line winds, not a tornado.
