Suffolk health officials say that eight new mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus on Long Island.
Officials say they found the contaminated samples last week in Lindenhurst, North Babylon, Nesconset, Bohemia, Farmingville, Huntington Station and Selden.
To date, 46 mosquito samples have tested positive for West Nile virus this year.
Officials say that no humans have been infected, but they’re warning residents to avoid having standing water on their property.
