The Wall Township School Board voted to stop construction on trailers used as classrooms at the Central School.
Parents in the district have been angry that their students would have to attend class in the trailers. They said that the trailers were not safe and were filled with bugs, rodents, holes and mold. They said that it has made it impossible for the students to go inside.
The Wall Township superintendent previously emailed parents of fifth-graders and told them the students will be returning to the main school building.
But parents say that the trailers should be torn down altogether.
“They were supposed to be a temporary solution to an overcrowding problem. We have five incoming kindergarten classes here at Central School so this is a problem that is not going away. The board has had 10 years to come up with a solution to this. There needs to be a solution,” says parent Samantha Bassett.
The superintendent said the trailers will be for other instructional purposes, but did not elaborate.
