Police: Man posed as officer, pulled over van full of Nassau detectives

A Hicksville man is accused of pretending to be a police officer and trying to pull over a van that was filled with real Nassau County detectives.
Authorities say Valiery Portlock, 25, was driving a black Nissan Sentra on Route 107 near Roosevelt Avenue in Hicksville around 11 a.m. Friday when he turned on emergency lights and started blowing an air horn to pull over a van.
Police say that van was filled with Nassau County Electronics Squad detectives. When the law enforcement officials quickly identified themselves, police say Portlock tried to flee.
He allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic and drove at a high rate of speed. Police say he eventually got onto the Long Island Expressway, where he was stopped by highway patrol.
Portlock is facing several charges including criminal impersonation, reckless endangerment and fleeing the police.
In court on Saturday, he was released on his own recognizance. Portlock is due back in court on Thursday.
