An 80-year-old former racehorse trainer from Elmont is facing child pornography charges.
Authorities say Daniel Mullan produced child pornography for more than 30 years. He is accused of producing and possessing a vast collection of child pornography, some of which he allegedly appeared in, dating back to the 1980s.
Mullan is also accused of transporting a teenage boy across the world for more than seven years to take part in the pornography videos.
Court records say he is facing several charges, including sexual exploitation of a child and transportation of a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity.
The records say that Mullan's possession of child pornography is so large that he not only stored it in his home, but also at a rental storage unit in Melville.
Mullan's attorney says he denies all of the charges.
Mullan had been living on Wellington Road in Elmont for nearly 20 years, but a few years ago, he suddenly disappeared. News 12 has learned that Mullan, who has dual citizenship in Ireland, had been extradited there to serve prison time for child porn charges.
Mullan was an assistant trainer for Triple Crown winner Secretariat, and worked at Belmont in the 1970s, according to the Irish Times. He also served as a personal assistant to the former king and prince of Saudi Arabia.
