Man accused of shooting, critically injuring half-brother in Central Islip

Suffolk County police arrested a man early Wednesday morning after they say he allegedly shot and critically injured his half-brother during an argument in Central Islip.
Police say they responded Tuesday night to a 911 call report of a man shot around 11 p.m.
Officers say they found Daniel Davis, 31, in the driveway of the residence with a gunshot wound to his neck.
Davis, of Mastic, was transported via Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical but stable condition.
Detectives say they determined that Davis was shot by his half-brother, Eugene Sherrod, during an argument in front of Sherrod’s residence.
Sherrod, 40, then fled the scene in a Hyundai Santa Fe. Police located the Hyundai in Medford and arrested Sherrod early Wednesday morning.
Sherrod is facing assault charges.
