Man sells pieces of Woodstock history as 50th anniversary nears

A Rockland County man has uncovered an original piece of Woodstock history that fans can touch -- and even own -- just in time for the event's 50th anniversary.
Three weeks after the 1969 concert in Bethel, Steve Gold was at his girlfriend's bungalow cottage in the same town. Gold's girlfriend's father asked him to help unload wood for a paddleboard tennis court. The man told Gold that the wood was from the Woodstock stage.
In 2017, Gold returned to Bethel. He found the old paddleboard court and asked its owners to remove some panels. They found logos and markings seen in the Woodstock movie and photographs from the event.
Gold had the wood authenticated three more times, and then bought it. This year, he launched Peace of Stage, selling products made with wood from the stage as Woodstock's 50th anniversary approaches.
