Gov. Andrew Cuomo announces $10 million for Baldwin downtown revitalization

Gov. Andrew Cuomo was in Baldwin Tuesday afternoon to announce that $10 million will be going to a new downtown revitalization project.

Baldwin is among 10 winners statewide whose plans will now be funded by the state. Residents say rundown, vacant and dilapidated buildings have littered Baldwin's downtown for nearly two decades.

The project aims to help transform downtown neighborhoods into vibrant communities around New York state. It challenged local governments to come up with the best plans to revitalize downtown areas.

There is no timeline for the project. The designated area is expected to be changed to Standard Zoning in October.
