Amazon has filed a petition with the Federal Aviation Administration to fly packages to its customers.
The only retailer is requesting approval to operate its drone to fly packages to customers in 30 minutes or less.
Amazon is also requesting exemption from drone-specific rules, like the requirement that only permits drones to be flown when the operator can see it.
The FAA is taking public comments on the petition for the next few weeks.
