North Bellmore elderly woman falls victim to ‘senior scam’ call

Posted: Updated:

A North Bellmore woman was victimized by a so-called senior scammer.

Police say a man claiming to work for Microsoft called the 83-year-old last Friday.

They say the guy told the victim her computer had technical issues and convinced her to buy numerous gift cards over several days.

News 12 is told she gave the man the codes to redeem those gift cards over the phone.

Police are warning individuals, and especially seniors, not to send money or gift cards over the phone.

Anyone who believes they received a possible senior scam call should call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
