Fast-moving storm causes damage, power outages in parts of Nassau County

A localized, fast-moving storm caused damage and power outages in parts of Nassau County Thursday night.
The National Weather Service has confirmed that a storm cell passed through just after 8 p.m. with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour.
West Hempstead, Malverne and Franklin Square saw the brunt of the storm, with strong winds, lightning and thunder.
Crews worked to clean up downed trees and restore power in the area near Hempstead and Cornwell avenues.

Police say a tree also crashed into a home nearby on Evergreen Drive. No injuries have been reported.

Some residents may still be without power.
