Mom who lost son to testicular cancer launches effort to spread awareness

A Long Island mom has launched an effort to raise awareness for testicular cancer after losing her son to the disease.
Dory Edwards lost her son, Brian, to testicular cancer six months after he was diagnosed. He was just 37 years old.
His death prompted Edwards to organize a seminar earlier this month for the Nassau Community College football team. Edwards brought in a doctor to talk to the players about the threat the disease poses to young men between the ages of 18-35.
"We're still talking about it because I never heard of it," says Ismael Pierre, of Nassau Community College. "I was surprised to hear somebody dying from it. It's something that can be avoided if you find it early so it's like I think it's something they should bring into health classes."
Edwards says she plans to hold the seminar once a year at the college. She says she is also working to expand her efforts to high schools across Long Island.
