'Red Light Robin Hood' to run for Suffolk legislature

WOODBURY -

The "Red Light Robin Hood" is back and running for office.

Stephen Ruth, the Centereach man who's been dubbed the "Red-light Robin Hood" for tampering with red-light cameras in Suffolk, has filed papers with the Suffolk Board of Elections.

Sources say he is running as the Libertarian candidate for county legislature in the 4th District.

As News 12 has previously reported, Ruth has repeatedly run into legal trouble for tampering with camera wiring and turning red light cameras away from intersections.

He said last year he was done attending meetings and fighting the program, due to a lack of public engagement.
