Attorney: Driver in fatal Meadowbrook crash suffered seizure

The attorney for the driver who police say caused a fatal crash on the Meadowbrook Parkway says his client suffered a seizure.
Bill Petrillo, the attorney representing 22-year-old Thomas Bochichio, says his client has a nearly inoperable brain tumor and suffered a seizure at the time of the crash. He says Bochichio is absolutely devastated and physically ill about what happened.
The four-car crash happened Sunday on the northbound Meadowbrook at Exit M1. Police say Bochichio's white BMW hit a Honda sedan, which then hit a light pole. The BMW then rear-ended a PT Cruiser and a black GMC.
Officials say the driver of the PT Cruiser, 23-year-old Samantha Shaw of Westbury, and front-seat passenger, 24-year-old Timothy Lafferty of Syosset, died at the scene.
State police say at this point they are looking into medical history and possible impairment.
However, Bochichio's attorney says this was nothing more than a tragic accident. He says his client was on the proper medication and had been cleared by a doctor to drive.
