GREAT RIVER -

The Suffolk SPCA says it stopped an animal sacrifice in Great River.

Suffolk SPCA Chief Roy Gross says an officer driving by the Bubbles Falls fishing area in Great River on Thursday afternoon saw a women carrying a cage with something inside.

Chief Gross says 49-year-old Heidy Ralda Guardado, of Jamaica, Queens, admitted to buying the chickens in the city and putting them in the trunk of her car. Gross says the chickens were in the car for two hours in 100-degree heat.

Gross says the woman was going to perform an animal sacrifice, specifically a ritual in black magic.

Investigators say along with the chickens they also found oranges, honey, coconut and hot rocks in a plastic container. News 12 is told all of these are used in black magic rituals.

Gross says the Queens woman was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and doing illegal activities at a state park.

He says the chickens are healthy and were taken to a sanctuary.
