Police: Man flees after stealing Range Rover, crashing it in Quogue

QUOGUE -

A man is accused of stealing a Range Rover in the Hamptons, crashing it and fleeing, police say.

Southampton Town Police say the SUV was stolen from a home on Daniel Lane in Sagaponack around 5:30 a.m. today.

Officers spotted the vehicle and chased it on Sunrise Highway.

They say the driver eventually crossed into oncoming traffic on Montauk Highway at Route 104 and crashed in Quogue Village.

Police say the suspect fled the scene after the crash.

Dogs and a chopper were brought out to help in the search for the suspect. Police say he may be seriously injured from the crash.

Anyone with any information is urged to call police.
