The SPCA is warning that the upcoming heatwave is just as dangerous for animals as it is for people.

Gary Rodgers, of the Nassau County SPCA, says that pets should not be brought outside during these kinds of conditions. It is best to keep them indoors with ventilation and air conditioning.

The Suffolk SPCA also wants to remind people it's illegal to tether a dog outside in temperatures over 90 degrees.

"People don't realize that they go into heat stroke really quick," he says.
